The Willink

Extreme Weather: Partial Closure of School

In response to the Red Weather Alert and subsequent evaluation, The Willink School and Sixth Form will close at the earlier time of 12:40pm on Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June.

Transport: We can confirm that all school transport providers will amend the collection time from The Willink to 12.40pm instead of 3:05pm. This applies to services run by Horseman Coaches, Elite Mini Coaches, TK Travel and DJ Travel.
Lunch: Lunch will be available to students at breaktime, including for those who are in receipt of free school meals.
Year 10 Mock Examinations: Mock Examinations on Friday morning (German, Spanish and Physics) will be unaffected. Any mock examinations due to take place in the afternoon will be rescheduled.
Reminder of precautions which are in place for this week:
• Access to drinking water, and we encourage increased hydration
• Use of shaded areas such as under the canopy in the piazza, the single and twin peaks in the playground, and the main hall during social times
• Wearing PE kit is permitted to support comfort instead of their main school uniform
• Use of sunscreen and sun protection is encouraged
• Interhouse sports activities have been cancelled to limit strenuous physical activity
• Indoor temperatures are managed via early ventilation and shading. Some classes have been relocated to cooler venues, and we have installed additional temporary air‑conditioning units across the school, including examination venues for Year 10 mock examinations
Students continue to impress us in acting responsibly as future global changemakers and some have reported that it is cooler in school than it is at home. They have taken ownership of their wellbeing in the heat — making sensible choices about hydration, sun protection, and looking out for one another.
Cooler temperatures are forecast for next week. Therefore, normal order will resume with a full timetable and full school uniform reinstated.
Thank you, as ever, for your support in helping students stay comfortable, safe, and ready to fulfil their academic and personal potential.
