Communication

Our success is based on meaningful collaboration with parents and students and good communication is at the heart of this.  There are several platforms for communication.​

Learning Review Days

There will be formal occasions, such as Learning Review Day (dates to be confirmed), which is an annual event for you and your child to meet with their tutor to review their achievements and set goals together to promote academic progress and wellbeing.

Parent Consultations and Reports

Similarly, you will be invited to Parent Consultations (February/March) with your child’s subject teachers to gain further insight into academic progress. These annual events are complemented by three Achievement Reports which will detail academic progress and ERA Scores (comprised of Focus, Behaviour and Homework scores from each subject teacher).

Parent Portal

We use an online parent portal to provide daily updates specific to your child. You will receive a unique username when your child joins in September. We will share more details of this in due course. Through this platform, you will receive updates including, but not limited to:

Homework: Teachers will provide details on assignments, due dates, and recommended completion times to support independent learning and organisation.

Conduct: Daily updates on your child’s behaviour, highlighting achievements and areas of concern, thereby helping form tutors, Heads of Learning, and parents stay informed.

Contact During the School Day

If parents or carers need to contact their child during the school day, our school office is happy to assist. Similarly, if a student needs to reach a parent or carer, the office staff will be available to help.

Parent Information Evenings (PIEs)

When appropriate, we may invite parents and carers to PIEs relevant to their child’s year group. We also strive to make presentation slides available on our website after these events.

School Trip Communications

School educational trip opportunities are usual announced via our weekly email communication, Parent Digest. ​

For most trips, we use Evolve, a dedicated trip management and risk assessment system, to communicate with parents and carers, collect consent, and obtain key travel documentation.​

Trip payment reminders are sent via our online school payment system, Scopay. ​

​All other trip-related communications are shared through our usual school communication channels.

Student Planners

At the start of the academic year, students will receive an A5 student planner. This valuable tool includes a helpful resources section and supports students in staying organised, managing their time effectively, and keeping track of important tasks.​ This is a new addition, commencing in September 2025.

Parent Digest

Parent Digest is a weekly email sent every Wednesday to parents, carers, students, and staff. Its purpose is to share important events, deadlines, and letters with parents and carers, reducing the number of individual emails from the school. While we strive to keep additional emails to a minimum, there may be occasions when extra messages are necessary. Current and previous editions of Parent Digest are always made available on our website.​

WeLink​

WeLink is our digital newsletter, published regularly and emailed to our whole school community. It is also available on our website for the wider Willink community to read. Current and previous editions of WeLink are always made available on our website.​

Our website provides a wealth of information, including key details on safeguarding, school policies, letters to parents and carers, curriculum overviews, contact information, and more.
