Fundraising Updates

Welcome to our Fundraising Updates

At The Willink, we are proud to support a variety of charitable causes while also raising funds to directly benefit our students and enhance their learning experiences.

Fundraising is more than just collecting donations - it’s an opportunity for our students to engage with their community, develop important life skills, and learn the value of giving and teamwork. Getting students involved in fundraising helps them build leadership, communication, and organizational skills, while fostering empathy and a sense of responsibility. It’s a hands-on way for them to make a real impact, both locally and globally.

Here, you’ll find all the latest updates on our fundraising efforts for this academic year , including the causes we’re supporting, progress toward our goals, and ways you can get involved.

Fundraising Total 2025/26

Year 7 Disco - Friday, 17 October 2025

Our Year 7 Disco took place on Friday 17 October and was a fantastic evening of fun, music, and fundraising! Held in the main school hall from 7–9pm, the “Ice Breaker” Disco offered students a wonderful opportunity to engage with each other and embrace opportunities to be their best, both in and out of lessons.

The event was very well attended, and a huge thank you goes to all staff who supported the evening in any capacity, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere that planted the seeds of belonging. Our Peer Mentors were exceptional ambassadors for the school, providing guidance and support throughout the night and truly deserving of our praise.

Thanks to everyone who helped before, during, and after the disco, we had a memorable evening and raised an amazing £610 for our technical fund, which will support all our performing arts technology.

'Wear it Blue' Non-Uniform Day - 10 October 2025

The Willink School held a “WEAR BLUE” non-uniform day on Friday, 10 October 2025. The funds raised were split between supporting the school and Berkshire Youth, helping the organisation raise funds to operate more youth clubs in our local community.

Berkshire Youth is a not-for-profit organisation that supports young people in the transition from childhood to young adulthood, helping them reach their full potential through leisure activities and pastoral support. This support is available both during term time and school holidays.

The Willink collaborated with several other schools in West Berkshire to support this organisation during the month.

Students were asked to give up to £2 (£1 towards the school and £1 towards Berkshire Youth), and to wear an item of blue or dress all in blue. We are delighted to share that we collectively raised £1,438. Thank you to everyone who took part and donated.

Sixth Form MacMillan Coffee Morning - 26 September 2025

On Friday, 26 September, our Sixth Form came together to support Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting a coffee morning in the Sixth Form area. Macmillan is a charity dedicated to providing vital support to people affected by cancer, offering practical, medical, and emotional assistance to patients and their families.

Students and staff enjoyed a selection of delicious cakes, generously donated, in exchange for small contributions. Staff couldn’t resist the opportunity for a treat, with Ms Browning lending a hand in selling the cakes. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with everyone enjoying tasty treats while supporting a meaningful cause.

A big congratulations to our School Council for organising the event, which raised an impressive £227. It was wonderful to see such a strong sense of community spirit amongst our Sixth Formers.

'Steps for Sound' Fundraising Walk - 18 September 2025

Our annual fundraising walk took place on Thursday, 18 September.  The walk was approximately 10 kilometres through rolling countryside and woodland, including the Englefield estate, starting and finishing at the school.

We’re thrilled to announce that we raised an incredible £4,846, just shy of our target of £5,000! These funds will go towards a new piano for our music practice room and a sound system for the school, helping to enhance music education and performances for all our students.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and contributed -your support makes a real difference!
