Staff Bereavement

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our much-loved Head of Mathematics, Mr John, died peacefully on 13 January 2026.

Mr John’s dedication to The Willink School and Sixth Form spanned twenty-seven years. He was far more than an outstanding teacher and leader: he inspired students with his passion for “beautiful maths” and his unwavering belief in their potential. Even during periods of ill health, his commitment to teaching and supporting students never wavered.

He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special, and his impact on our school community is immeasurable. Students, colleagues, parents and carers alike will remember him as someone who cared deeply, encouraged quietly, and inspired a genuine love of learning.

This loss is felt greatly by our staff, many of whom worked closely with him for many years. We appreciate your compassion as we navigate this difficult time together.

Our thoughts are with Mr John’s family at this very difficult time, and we extend our heartfelt condolences.
