GCSE Results 2021
Thursday 12th August 2021: GCSE Results The Willink School is pleased to announce the following GCSE examination results.
The headlines are:
As with A Levels, GCSE grades this year were awarded through a process of centre determined grades, against a national standard. Due to this fundamentally different nature of assessment, our students have had opportunity to show their performance in each subject across different pieces of evidence, resulting in a holistic grade. For each student, for each subject this meant taking between six and eight assessments. The process of awarding grades ensured that students were only assessed on content they had been taught – and this will differ from school to school. Our approach to assessing students was approved by the exam boards, however, the different model of assessment this year means, of course, that year-on-year or school-to-school comparisons are unhelpful.
The following students achieved at least 9 GCSE grades 9-7:
Peter Fry (Head, The Willink School) said: “The Willink is pleased to report some excellent results by its students in their GCSE and other level 2 qualifications. These last eighteen months have been difficult circumstances for continuity in learning and our students have endured a considerable degree of uncertainty and disruption, so we congratulate with them not only their exceedingly good results, but their resilience and forbearance. It is important to remember that these results are a tribute to their hard work and perseverance over many years. Willink staff have worked tirelessly to ensure all our students, whatever their achievements, are able to successfully progress into post 16 education or training at Willink or elsewhere, and we look forward to sharing their future successes.”
